Australian Girl Doll was created by Helen Schofield. When she couldn’t find quality, age appropriate dolls for her grandchildren other than those overseas, she decided to create her own. Consulting with an artist – Samantha Auert, pictures were created from their owns daughters images and the looks for these gorgeous dolls were born. The dolls are produced in an internationally accredited and worlds best practise doll factory, with great care undertaken in manufacturing the dolls and their accessories. Australian Girl Doll is fully Australian owned and endorses the work of Kids Free 2B Kids and Women’s Forum Australia. Through research and education regarding the sexualisation of children in the media, advertising and clothing industries these organisations promote psychological health and emotional well being of Australia’s children.
When I was a little girl, I loved my dolls. I would spend hours playing on my own dressing them, putting them to bed and talking to them. They were my little friends. Miss 8 is like me in many ways, and my love of dolls has followed through to her much to my delight. She is a real little girl, and when she was delivered a special package a few weeks ago, it was love at first sight not only for her, but mum as well.
Miss 8 was sent “Emily”which she chose herself after hours of deliberating on the website. This beautiful doll is 50cm tall and comes dressed in pants, a yellow shirt and has an Akubra hat. Along with her boots she has a pair of thongs included you can change her into. She is soft but firm, and can be played with easily, standing on her own or sitting in a range of positions. Her eyes close when she is laying down, and her hair which Miss 8 loves the most about her, is made from kankelon, which is used in human wigs. You can brush it with a brush you can purchase online, style it, and wash it if you want. Her body is surface washable and her clothing can be washed clean also. Miss 8 has a new best friend.
